David-Jan Bronsgeest is a Dutch film director based in Amsterdam. He is known for blending horror and psychological drama with a strong visual style and his addiction to strong color use. Bronsgeest’s films have screened at major international festivals, including the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and Fantastic Fest (AUSTIN, USA).

His feature debut, JIMMY received critical attention for its great atmosphere and outrages genre fun. His graduation film BROKER earned him the Tuschinski Award for best student film, while his provocative fashion horror piece SEXORCISM won an ACDN Lamp. He directed multiple music video's and his dark homage to inner struggles of an artist, the video "AFRAID OF THE DARK" received an Edison Award for Best Music Video.

In addition to fiction, he works on high-end commercials and several fashion films. He’s collaborated with brands including Karl Lagerfeld, Tommy Hilfiger, and Gouda's Glorie, always bringing a cinematic, unexpected edge to the commercials. He is also the co-founder of a production company BLOODRAVE, where he develops and produces high-concept genre movies and series with his creative partner Tim Koomen.
